one morning, i looked up 'bigot' in the dictionary...just to get the precise definition so i could challenge the accusations many people have of me.
bigot: (n) a person who regards his own faith and views in matters of religion as unquestionably right (so then, a bigot will not doubt himself...a bigot is then solid in his convictions), and any belief or opinion opposed to or differing from them as unreasonable or wicked. (he then refutes that which is contrary to the ideas in his head, a bigot will then not be taken by a car salesman's manipulation and will not purchase a car $3000 over-budget. a bigot is then not gullible and will not be influenced to change his mind) in an extended sense, a person who is intolerant of opinions which conflict with his own, as in politics or morals; one obstinately and blindly devoted to his own church, party, belief, or opinion. (is my dog a bigot for being devoted to me, when he doesn't know and is blind to what a life with moe would be like?)
the next time somebody calls me a bigot, i can say the following:
"yes, i am solid in my convictions. yes, i am not gullible or easily influenced by fast-talking opposers. yes, i am as devoted to my beliefs as i am to the boyfriend i have in myself" back
